Platforms: iPhone, iPad and Mac
You recorded the conversation because you wanted to remember something. Perspective Transcribe helps you get back to what was said, read the important points, and find the part you need.
A session is one saved recording and the information that belongs to it. That can include a transcript, a summary, and a conversation with the app about the recording.
Make your first recording
- Open Perspective Transcribe and follow the welcome screens. If you choose Skip, you can return to the app's settings later.
- Allow microphone access when you want to record.
- From Sessions, select Record. Be ready to speak: this action starts recording immediately once microphone access is available.
- Say a few sentences, then select Stop. With VoiceOver, this control is called Stop recording.
- Open the saved session and wait for transcription to finish.
- Choose Transcript to read the words. Choose Summary to review the overview when it is ready.
Start with a short recording. It gives you a chance to check your microphone and become familiar with the app before recording something important.
Understand the different parts
Transcript contains the words the app recognized. Summary gives you a shorter overview. Chat lets you ask questions about the recording. Action Items identifies tasks and follow-ups and requires Perspective Intelligence All Access.
Summaries and chat need an available AI option on your device. Open Settings, then Summaries & Chat to review the options. An AI model is the software the app uses to understand the transcript. Some options require a download or compatible hardware.
Find settings again
On iPhone or iPad, use Settings from Sessions. On Mac, open the app's Settings. The settings sections use names such as Recording & Transcription, Summaries & Chat, Data & Storage, and All Access.
These instructions cover the iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps. Apple Watch has a separate recording workflow.
