Platforms: iPhone, iPad and Mac
A short pause does not have to become a separate recording. You can pause, collect your thoughts, and continue in the same session.
Record a conversation
- Open Sessions and select Record.
- Allow microphone access if asked, and be ready to speak: Record starts recording immediately.
- Check that the app shows Recording and that the elapsed time is increasing.
- Select Pause when you need a break. Select Resume when you are ready to continue.
- Select Stop when you are finished. The app saves the recording and begins processing it.
With VoiceOver, the recording controls are named Start recording, Pause recording, Resume recording, and Stop recording. Use the names to find them; you do not need to identify a button by its color or shape.
Check before you leave the recording
Going back to Sessions is different from stopping. Use Stop recording when you want to finish and save. Discard Recording removes the recording you are making, so do not choose it if you want to keep the audio.
If a call, an audio-device change, or another interruption occurs, check the recording status before continuing. Do not assume the app is still capturing sound just because its recording screen is open.
For clearer results, place the microphone close to the people speaking and make a short test recording in the room you plan to use.
