On-device processing and iCloud storage answer different questions. Processing is how the app turns audio into text and works with that text. Storage is where the saved recordings and results are kept.
The app uses on-device transcription and AI options. It can also keep saved content up to date through your private iCloud account when iCloud is available. Downloads, subscription checks, importing an audio link, and sharing are separate activities that can need a connection.
Check storage and sync
- Open Settings, then Data & Storage.
- Review the storage totals.
- Check the sync information and iCloud Drive availability.
Saved on This Device means the app is using local storage rather than an active cloud store. It does not mean that a copy has reached another device. Check the other device before relying on it for access to a recording.
Delete one recording
- Open the session you want to remove.
- Open Session options and choose Delete.
- Read the confirmation carefully before confirming.
The confirmation says the recording and transcript will be permanently deleted. Export anything you need to keep first.
Delete all app data
Data & Storage also contains Delete All App Data. This is a destructive action covering recordings, transcripts, summaries, and chats. It is not a troubleshooting step to try casually. The app says speech tools stay installed.
Removing a downloaded AI model is a different action. It frees model storage without deleting the recordings and their results.
Read the privacy policy
Open Settings, then Help & About and choose Privacy Policy for the app's policy link. On-device processing does not mean that every part of the app has no network activity. Review the policy and the App Store privacy information for the broader picture.
